Your property tax burden is determined by the locally elected officials of the taxing units where your property is located.
Under the Texas Constitution, all local taxing units are required to provide transparency in the property tax process. This includes notifying taxpayers of proposed tax rates and giving taxpayers the opportunity to participate in public hearings, and, when applicable, to limit or roll back tax increases through established procedures.
