Important Notice
During the 88th regular session, the Texas legislature passed Senate Bill (SB) 1801, effective September 1, 2023, which requires the Lampasas Central Appraisal District develop a program for periodic review of each residence homestead granted under Texas Property Tax Code Section 11.13. The bill requires the Chief Appraiser verify each residence homestead at least every 5-years to confirm the recipient of the exemptions still qualify. There is no need to re-apply for your homestead exemption unless requested to do so, by mail, from the Appraisal District.
There is no charge or fee associated with receiving or filing an exemption application with the Lampasas Central Appraisal District.

The Lampasas Central Appraisal District will mail 2025 property tax statements after the General Election in November. This timing ensures that all approved exemptions, including homestead values, are accurately applied to every account.

Within this site you will find general information about the District and the ad valorem property tax system in Texas, as well as information regarding specific properties within the district. Lampasas Central Appraisal District is responsible for local property tax appraisal and exemption administration for 10 jurisdictions (taxing units) within Lampasas County, Texas. The district appraises property according to the Texas Property Tax Code and the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practices (USPAP).
Each taxing unit, such as the county, a city, school district, municipal utility district, etc., sets its own tax rate to generate revenue to pay for such things as police and fire protection, public schools, road and street maintenance, courts, water and sewer systems, and other public services. Appraisals established by Lampasas CAD allocate the year’s tax burden on the basis of each taxable property’s January 1st market value.
The Appraisal District’s primary responsibility is to develop an annual appraisal roll for use by taxing units in imposing ad valorem taxes on property in the district. Lampasas CAD is governed by the Board of Directors, who is primarily responsible for the hiring of the Chief Appraiser as well as approving the annual budget.
It is not the responsibility of Lampasas CAD to establish tax rates.
